About Us
I am David Johnson, owner of Johnson Gunsmithing LLC. I was born in Athens, AL and grew up hunting and shooting with my dad in and around Limestone County. I graduated from Athens High School in 1982. I spent over 35 years in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration industry. My lifelong interest in and love of guns led me to enroll in the American Gunsmithing Institute, receiving certification in pistols, shotguns and rifles. I have worked as an apprentice in a local gunsmithing shop, gaining hands-on training while being supervised by a well-respected member of the profession.
A gunsmith is trained to repair, modify, design or build guns. The occupation requires specialized training and skill. Much like an auto mechanic, a gunsmith makes sure your gun is operating at peak performance. At Johnson Gunsmithing LLC, I offer full service gunsmithing services. Those services include:
• General repairs
• Free safety checks
• Detailed cleaning, polishing and inspection
• Glass bedding rifle stock
• Replacement or addition of scope and mounts
• Site change
• Smooth and tune trigger
• Addition or replacement of butt pads
• Refinishing stock, grip and barrel
• Fixing timing issues
I perform FFL required transfers, but I DO NOT sell guns.

No quotes will be given over the phone or by email. I must see the project before giving a quote. Free verbal quotes are given on projects.
Written work orders with customer approval are completed before work is done.
